Strays

My oldest daughter recently took in a "temporary" dog with the intention of trying to find a home for it. Unfortunately for her, the dog is making himself at home and endearing himself to my grandson, my son-in-law, and the family dog. I think I know how this is going to end...

Some of the "strays" that enter our lives (good or bad):
- thoughts that lead us away from God's will in our lives
- people in need who are really divine appointments
- challenges to our thinking about orthodox faith
- challenging people who say they want our help but really don't
- opportunities to grow

Some strays are good. Some, not so much. What are some strays that come to your mind?

  1. No, the dang dog isn't staying! I have officially posted signs around town.

This topic has come up in my house this week because my Revelation study through Precept last week was on Rev 2 -- Thyratira. The key reproof for them being that they "tolerate the woman Jezebel who calls herself a prophetess" and tempts bond servants into her false teachings of immorality.
Where in our lives are we TOLERATING immorality? Our post-modern world holds "tolerance" as one of the highest values... but the world is in debt on morality, virtue, and Truth. The world can't tell me what to do!

  2. The Christian must be determined to never be enslaved to the post-modern / post-Christian philosophy that is promoted today. Tolerance, when managed in the Spirit, is a wonderful virtue. It allows us to hear others out without judging them. A sanctified tolerance might also be called humility, and as Paul says in Philippians 2:3, "in humility consider others better than yourselves." I believe one of the keys to godly tolerance is being submitted to the authorities that God has placed over us. Together we are able to separate true tolerance from a pagan agenda.
